The Akina String Quartet had the pleasure of performing at beautiful Mill Hall in Newbury set on the outskirts of the town near to Greenham Common. It was the first time we had performed at the venue as a Quartet and we knew from previous performances wth our duos that it is a spectacular but intimate venue - perfect for a string quartet.

We were postioned to play in the Great Hall next to the magnificent fire place which was the perfect spot for a string quartet. Having carefully consulated with the host beforehand we performed a specially tailored set of string quartet music. Starting with well loved classical favourites famous for being performed by string quartets such as Bach's Air in G, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nacht Music, Vivaldis Four Seasons and Pachelbel's Canon in D.

Once the guests had arrived we switched to a selection of contemporary music performing music by Coldplay, The Beatles, Queen, Elbow, The Kinks as well as some Jazz standards too.

We had a brilliant time playing for our gorgeous couple Suzie and Jason to celebrate their marriage recently. It was lovely to play in such a stunning marquee the flowers were beautiful and every last detail had been carefully considered from the musical repertoire to the super singing waiter Giovanni. Music selected for us to perform spanned 300 years of history and included some timeless classical favourites by Schubert, Pachelbel, Puccini, Handel through to modern standards by the Beatles, Beach Boys and Elvis Presley. We love the fact that as a string quartet we are able to share and perform such a wide variety of music representing so may different genres. We love a challeng and are continually adding to our repertoire list if you have a query about appropriate music for wedding ceremonies then feel free to drop us a message either via our contact form or through a message on our facebook page
